Vanguard Multiplayer not working

Are you having trouble playing multiplayer on Vanguard? I know how annoying it gets when your friend is waiting for dual action and your game won’t work. But it’s nothing to worry about, I’ve faced the same problem several times. And every time I was able to fix it with different techniques.

Here I’ll share all of my techniques with you to get you out of this misery. So keep up with me as I walk you through each method.

Check your internet connectivity

Before you look into any other complications, make sure that you have a stable and strong internet connection. You can take an online internet speed test to confirm that have enough speed required for the game. If not, give your router a restart or call your internet service provider to look into the matter. You can also try directly connecting your PC or console to your modem with an Ethernet cable. This will rule out the possibility of any wireless connectivity issues.

Do you have strong internet signals? Well, then the problem is somewhere else. Let’s keep looking!

Restart the game or your PC/console

I know it may sound lame but just restarting your game or PC/console can fix numerous issues. All you need to do is switch off your PC/console and unplug the power supply for a few minutes. Then replug it and power it on to see if it did the trick. This method clears any temporary cache or data that may be causing the problem.

Check your server status

Multiplayer issues can also occur if the game servers are down for maintenance. In this case, you can’t do anything but wait for them to start back up. You can check any server maintenance updates on Activision’s official website or other online forums. If you’re facing the problem within the announced time span then there’s no need to worry, the problem is not at your end.

Allow your game in the Windows firewall

If you’re playing Vanguard on a Windows device then you need to make sure the game is in the firewall bypass list of programs. If you don’t know how to do that, you can find the way here

Update your game

You should also make sure that your game is up-to-date and has all the latest patches installed. Many game developers launch game patches to fix any bugs or glitches. So you must install any available updates to avoid any problems. And if you’re playing on a console, make sure that your firmware is updated.

Update your network adapters

Not many people know about this trick but it can help fix several connectivity issues. To update your network adapters;

  • Right-click on the Windows icon in the taskbar and select the device manager
  • Once the tab opens, click on network adapters to expand the window
  • Now right-click on the adapter you’re using for the game and go for update driver
  • Then click on search automatically for drivers and install any available drivers

Another easier way to keep your drivers updated is to make sure that your windows are updated.

Repair your game files

Any missing or corrupted game files can also be the culprit behind your multiplayer not working. And it doesn’t take much time to repair your game files. so why not? If you’ve never done this before, just follow along;

  • First, open your Battle.net launcher
  • Now in your game library look for the COD: Vanguard
  • Click the game icon and then click on the cog icon
  • Tap on Repair and Scan > Begin Scan
  • Now wait until the process is completed and then check if the issue’s still there

Reinstall the game

If repairing the game files didn’t work then you’ll have to go for this last shot. Delete the game and then reinstall it. This helps in fixing any potential problems with game files ultimately resolving your multiplayer issue. Also, make sure your shaders are fully installed. To check this, go to your game settings and click on graphics. Install all shaders if they’re not already installed.

Some additional tips

  • Try using a wired internet connection to see if it helps
  • Make sure your graphics card drivers are updated because sometimes this can cause issues
  • If there are any background applications, I’d suggest closing them off
