JBL Headphones Not Charging

JBL has come a long way from where they started; the company has been making some excellent headphones, speakers, and even the new and hot true-wireless earphones. The point is, if you are looking to get into the realm of some solid wireless audio, JBL is an excellent choice that you can go with.

However, JBL headphones over the past couple of years have run into one issue, and that is that they just stop charging altogether. JBL speakers also experience charging problems. This has happened to both brand-new and older headphones, and a lot of the time, this issue has people confused. But is it as problematic as it sounds or there are some easy fixes to it? That is what we are going to explore as we look at the causes of JBL headphones not charging.

How to Fix JBL Headphones Not Charging

If your JBL headphones simply refuse to charge, the fix might be a lot simpler. However, considering how it is a widespread issue that can happen because of a number of reasons, we are going to look at every possible way to fix this and list down a number of methods you can use.

Method 1: Letting the Battery Charge

Letting the jbl Battery Charge

If you have studied physics or have a basic understanding of how batteries work, if a battery is fully drained and has been off for some time, then there is a chance that the battery is going to take more time to actually charge.

So, in this instance, if your JBL headphones are not charging, it could be because the battery is completely discharged. This means that the battery is going to need a little longer to actually have power in it so it can deliver the power to headphones.

The simplest solution here is to put the headphones on charge and let them stay on charge until you see the LED light turn on. From the moment the light turns on, let the headphones on charge and unplug after half an hour, and then try turning them on.

Doing so should fix your issues and your headphones will start charging normally.

Method 2: Troubleshooting the Charger and Cable

The second method is rather straightforward and something that almost all of us have gone through with at some point in our lives. This involves actually troubleshooting the charger and the cable that you use to charge your JBL headphones.

If your JBL headphones are not charging, simply plug the headphones to a different power source and see if that works. Alternatively, use the JBL charging cable and power brick on another device to see if that device charges. If it is not, then the obvious culprit is the charging cable and the power brick you are using.

However, if your JBL headphones are still not charging, then we are going to explore some more fixes.

Method 3: Cleaning the Charging Port

Cleaning the JBL Charging Port

This one is not something that happens all that often but there is precedence of the fact that the charging port ended up gathering dust in it to a point that it stopped working properly. Of course, cleaning the charging port is not something that a lot of people are aware of and therefore, they can get overwhelmed it with.

I would highly suggest that you are cleaning the port using compressed air and a small, soft brush. Why? because anything that has liquid in it can end up causing further damage. Therefore, a small, soft brush and some compressed air should be able to help you clean the port.

Once it is cleaned, you can go ahead and try charging the headphones again.

Method 4: Resetting the JBL Headphones

Resetting the JBL Headphones

Sometimes, the simplest issue can end up having the simplest solution. If your JBL headphones are not charging, there is a chance that it could be a software glitch. So, I would suggest that you go ahead and reset your headphones.

Here is how you can reset them.

  • Step 1: Make sure the JBL headphones are turned off.
  • Step 2: Long press the volume up and volume down buttons together and keep them pressed for at least 20 seconds.
  • Step 3: Once you hear your headphones make a sound, let go off the buttons.

Performing the steps above have reset your headphones; simply go ahead and put them on the charge to see if that resolves the issue for you.

Method 5: Claiming the Warranty/Getting Them Repaired

If all else fails, the next step is to go ahead and claim the warranty as it might as well be the most effective way that it can be fixed. However, if the warranty period has passed, you can take it to a technician who specializes in fixing headphones and let them have a look.

I still remember the time when the scroll wheel on my Razer Basilisk Ultimate stopped working and I could not send it in for a warranty, so I got it fixed by a local technician. If the issue is something that can be fixed, you should not have any issues and since JBL headphones don’t use proprietary connections, fixing them is not difficult.

Conclusion

As someone who loves music and his headphones, I completely understand the despair that surrounds a person when the headphones stop working properly. If your JBL headphones are not charging, try the methods that we have mentioned above.

The purpose of mentioning multiple methods is that one of them will work for you and you will be able to enjoy your headphones once again without any issues.
