Is 3060 ti enough for 1080p 144hz

RTX 3060 Ti was a great addition to NVIDIA’s 3000 series lineup. It wouldn’t be any exaggeration if I said that it offers the most value of all the 3000 series cards. Based on NIVDIA’s Ampere architecture, this thrilling card is claimed to be much better than the previous top-of-the-line cards like the 2080 and 2080 Super. Just for 399 dollars, you get a high-performance card to enjoy those long gaming sessions.

But the real question here is; can the 3060 Ti manage to pull 1080p 144hz graphics? Stick with me to find out the answer!

Gaming benchmarks at 1080p 144hz

Now, I’m not going to bore you with any features of the card which you may already know so let’s get straight to the chase. But if you want to take a look at the specs, you can visit here!

Caught up with all the specifications? Well then, let’s take this card out on the real gaming grounds. I tried nine different games with versatile graphic demands at 1080p to see if the RTX 3060 Ti can stand its ground. Whether it did or not, the results below will explain it all.

FYI, I used the Ryzen 5 3600 processor for all these tests.

Games Average FPS at 1080pAverage FPS at 1440p
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (Ultra High Settings)80.5 60
Control (Ultra High/RTX Ultra/ DLSS Quality)84.560
Red Dead Redemption 2(Ultra Preset)7761
The Witcher 3 (Maximum Settings)119.5 87.5
Resident Evil 3 (Ultra Settings/Texture Quality High 2GB)153.5102
Cyberpunk 2077(Ultra Settings/RTX Ultra/DLSS Quality) 6343
Forza Horizon 4 (Maximum Settings) 133105
Horizon Zero Dawn(Ultra Settings) 8869.5
Watch Dogs: Legion(Ultra High/RTX Ultra/ DLSS Quality)64 49

Can the 3060 Ti handle 1080p 144hz?

As you’ve seen the results for yourself, you might have a pretty good idea that not only is the RTX 3060 capable of running 1080p but it can also work with 1440p graphics. Even the most graphic-intensive games like Cyberpunk 2077, and Watch Dogs: Legion run quite smoothly at 1440p.

Does this mean that RTX 3060 Ti is overkill for 1080p graphics? Well, that depends on your needs! If you want a GPU that can handle the most highly demanding games at maximum settings and offers you remarkable performance at 1080p. There is no other graphics card than RTX 3060 Ti that offers this much value.

Are you on a tighter budget? Don’t really care much about those heavy graphics? Just looking for a mid-range card to enjoy light 1080p gaming? Well, then you’ll be better off with some other less expensive card like RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT.

Final thoughts

To put it in a nutshell, RTX 3060 Ti is more than capable of handling 1080p at 144hz. Not only that, it offers great performance at 1440p as well. So if you’re planning to play some extreme graphics games then RTX 3060 Ti is a great budget-friendly pick. But if you only need a GPU for 1080p resolution then I would recommend going for some cheaper options.
