Best LG Gaming Monitors

Believe it or not, if you are a gamer, then 2023 is one of the best times to upgrade your display or buy a new one, for that matter. The reason why I said “display” rather than the term “monitor” is because over the past couple of months, TVs have come a long way and have managed to become the main attraction for those who are looking for a no-compromise experience. Now, I do understand that as a consumer, things can get confusing. I have been there, as I spent a couple of months just trying to nail down the display I wanted for my computer.

This is where LG comes in as a company; known as one of the biggest manufacturers of displays, the company has some of the highest end, as well as affordable offerings available in the market. Not just that, LG is also known for providing display panels to other brands in the market who are then selling them under different names. This made me realize that I should do a roundup of the best LG gaming monitors available for you to buy.

So, let’s not waste time and get started… We have some great monitors for you including a surprise for you as well.

I was under the impression that finding the top LG gaming monitors would not be an easy thing to do, to be honest. Why? Well, the monitor market alone is crowded with all sorts of offerings and even the best and most well-versed enthusiast can end up getting confused.

That is why the round up serves the purpose of making things easier and more understandable for everyone who is on the hunt to upgrade.

Our Top Pick
LG C1 48”

LG C1 48”

Editor’s Pick

Specifications:

  • Screen Size: 48-inch
  • Resolution: 3840×2160
  • HDR Support: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG.
  • Refresh Rate: 120Hz over HDMI 2.1

Okay, before everyone starts getting their pitchforks ready, I have something to say in defense of the LG C1 48”. This right here is not a monitor, it is an OLED TV that LG has been making for some time now but the 48-inch size makes it the perfect size for big format gaming monitors and a lot of people have actually been using this as a monitor, too. I personally have been using the LG C9 55-inch TV for all my monitor needs and trust me, the experience is next level.

Now, there is no denying that the TV has an excellent set of specifications but what else is there that makes it such a good gaming monitor? Well, for starters, gaming on OLED is an entirely different experience, it is almost like you are transported to a whole different world of visual fidelity. The LG C1 managed to produce an impressive brightness of 409 nits, and it looks stunning. Turn on the HDR and you are getting an even better experience.

Now, I do understand that gamers might be concerned about the input lag, but the 12.6 ms of response time is more than enough that you can experience. Not to forget, you are also getting HDMI 2.1, which will allow you to enjoy 120Hz at 4K. Yes, you heard it right. The OLED also supports VRR like G-Sync, so if you are worried about choppy gameplay, you do not have to.

LG has packed a ton of features in the LG C1, allowing you to perfectly tweak the TV to your liking. Whether you are watching Netflix or gaming, this TV is going to give you the best of both worlds.

I have been using the LG C9 for as long as I can remember and the C1 is a lot like that aside from a few differences and I always wished that LG’s webOS had more apps. That, and the audio could require a bit more tweaking.

If you are not concerned with these two little inconveniences, then the LG C1 48” is the best LG gaming monitor that I can recommend and it is not going to let you down in any case.

Pros
  • The picture quality is unbeatable.
  • Inky blacks and uniform colors.
  • HDMI 2.1 adds a lot of benefits.
  • Lots of gaming features such as variable refresh rate and more.
Cons
  • webOS could use more apps.
  • The speakers require a bit of tweaking.

LG 27GL850-B

LG 27GL850-B

Best Budget LG Gaming Monitor

Specifications:

  • Screen Size: 27-inch
  • Resolution: 2560×1440
  • HDR Support: Yes.
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz.

LG’s contribution to the gaming world is not something that we can ignore. Every now and then, we run into the users who are on a tight budget but still want something that is good. However, with so much to choose from, the confusion is another factor that most of us tend to run away from and therefore, buying the right monitor can be difficult. In comes the LG 27GL850-B.

Now, there is much to love about the LG 27GL850-B, thanks to the fact that it is an IPS monitor, you are getting a wider color gamut than usual. The monitor supports impressive 98% DCI-P3 coverage and 1.07 billion colors 8-bit + FRC. Needless to say, for those who are looking for some photo or video editing on this monitor, it is entirely possible.

Not just that, the LG 27GL850-B also brings 1ms response time, which is a lot of fun in online games and allows for a truly wonderful experience. Although the monitor does not support the G-Sync hardware module, it is G-Sync compatible, allowing you to use it with your Nvidia GPU.

Moving further, the design has good ergonomics and you are getting 2x USB 3.0 ports as well as a headphone jack, should you wish to use this option. Additionally, there is a DisplayPort 1.4 as well as two HDMI 2.0 ports on the back.

As a gaming monitor on a budget, the LG 27GL850-B is an amazing offering, however, it does suffer from some downsides that usually these monitors go through. For starters, the FreeSync range over HDMI is limited to just 48Hz to 100Hz. The design does not have any swivel option, and the IPS glow and middling contrast ratio are two more things to keep in mind (something that is normal in IPS panels)

Overall, the LG 27GL850-B is a good entry point for anyone who wants to buy a solid monitor without having to go through extensive spending money. It delivers solid performance for the price you are paying and does not really falter.

Pros
  • Excellent color gamut.
  • Blazing fast response time.
  • G-Sync and FreeSync support.
  • Great design and a lot of connectivity options
Cons
  • FreeSync range is limited on HDMI.
  • No swiveling.
  • IPS glow and middling contrast ratio.

LG 27UK650-W

LG 27UK650-W

Best LG Gaming Monitor for Creators

Specifications:

  • Screen Size: 27-inch
  • Resolution: 3840×2160
  • HDR Support: HDR400
  • Refresh Rate: 60Hz

Being a content creator is a lot of fun, this is one thing that I do admit. However, it comes with all sorts of woes. For starters, the content that you are creating needs to be edited and graded as well and for that too happen, you do need a good monitor or else you might not be able to experience the things the way you want to experience. You are a content creator in need of a good monitor? The LG 27UK650-W is just for you as it delivers good performance.

Now, in terms of specs, the LG 27UK650-W is not something that is going to set itself apart from the market or the competition, for that matter. It is a standard monitor that more or less is known for delivering standard results.

However, if you are a creator, the 4K resolution is definitely something that you can benefit from. The monitor also does really well in brightness, producing 350 nits of brightness and 450 nits if you are turning HDR on, which might not seem groundbreaking but for the price you are paying, it is more than enough.

The colors remain vibrant and consistent thanks to the 1.07 billion (8-bit + FRC) support. Sadly, the overall color gamut is not that big. Moving further, if you are looking for connectivity, you are getting a single headphone jack, one DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0 ports; not a lot but gets the job done just fine.

LG has done a good job when it comes to creating a good mix of a gaming and a content creation monitor as you are also getting access to some nice performance enhancing features such as low input lag and quick response time. The support for AMD FreeSync is also there but considering the monitor just supports 60Hz refresh rate, that is one thing I’m not sure would be useful.

Honestly, the lack of proper swiveling and average HDR performance are the only two things that might not be good about this otherwise excellent monitor. So, before you spend on it, just keep these in mind.

Overall, the LG 27UK650-W does what it is made to do. You are getting high resolution, a good amount of features, vibrant colors, and FreeSync; gaming and content creation can easily be handled by this monitor without much stress.

Pros
  • The colors remain vibrant and consistent.
  • Great details thanks to a higher resolution.
  • Low input lag.
  • AMD FreeSync support.
Cons
  • No swivel option.
  • HDR performance is subpar.

LG 34GN850-B

LG 34GN850-B

Best LG Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

Specifications:

  • Screen Size: 34-inch
  • Resolution: 3440×1440
  • HDR Support: HDR400
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz

For me, the ultrawide aspect ratio was the first time I truly understood the need for a gaming monitor and although it took me a massive chunk of time to finally get my hands on one, when I finally did, there were no regrets as the performance on an ultrawide monitor was infinitely better than anything that I had experienced at that time and well, I was in love with it, to say the least. That is why reviewing the LG 34GN850-B was such a treat and although I have moved on from the ultrawide aspect ratio, it still is an amazing experience.

Now, for those wondering, the LG 34GN850-B is not something that is a spec-monster. However, that does not mean that the overall performance is not good. The monitor comes with a lot of goodness including HDR400 support, allowing you to view the content in some really good and sharp colors that remain consistent as well as vibrant.

The LG 34GN850-B manages to reach a peak brightness of 390 nits with an impressive contrast ratio of 900:1. Of course, if you go with HDR, the peak brightness can easily go to 400 nits but a lot of people might not have the experience they want. The monitor does not come with calibration right out of the box, so you might want to go ahead and do that to get even better results.

Needless to say, if you are looking to get this monitor for the sake of great image quality, then this monitor delivers. Thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate support, the motion clarity is also great. LG has also done a great job with the OSD as it is one of the easiest to use.

The monitor also looks really good with nice and clean edges and corners, and the curve is always there for some amazing immersive experience.

Honestly, my only issue here is that the stand is not a good looking thing about this monitor and the contrast ratio could have been better.

Overall, the LG 34GN850-B serves as a great entry to the world of ultrawide and if you truly want the experience that will allow you to have a lot of fun, this is the monitor that you should go for.

Pros
  • The image quality remains top-notch.
  • 144Hz is smooth as butter.
  • VRR support.
  • Great colors.
  • Looks excellent without the stand
Cons
  • The contrast ratio could have been better.
  • The stand is average at best.

LG 27GN750-B

LG 27GN750-B

Best LG Gaming Monitor for Online Gaming

Specifications:

  • Screen Size: 27-inch
  • Resolution: 1920×1080
  • HDR Support: No.
  • Refresh Rate: 240Hz.

Online gaming has been on the rise for as long as we can remember and in 2023, the online gaming fad is still going strong to a point that the gaming itself is at its strongest and if you are looking to get started with it, you are in luck. There are a lot of important factors that can make the gaming experience better but one of the most important things about online gaming is a good monitor and this is where LG 27GN750-B is up for the play.

Looking at the specs, it is safe to say that if there ever were a monitor that was strictly built for gaming and nothing else, the LG 27GN750-B would be it. Why? Well, in the day and age where OLED is becoming more and more common in gaming monitors, LG is still using a TN panel with this monitor. Yes, I do understand that most people would turn the eyes when they look at such a monitor but hear me out, the performance here is out of the world as you are getting access to 240Hz refresh rate, lowest possible response time, motion blur reduction technology, and VRR support, too. You want to play games without having to worry about anything? This is it.

Now, I do understand that if you want to drive 240Hz refresh rate, you are going to need a GPU powerful enough. Well, that is not a concern here since the LG 27GN750-B only offers 1080p as the max resolution, allowing you to truly have the experience you and we all know how resolution is not that big of a problem when you are talking about online gaming.

The monitor also brings 400 nits of max brightness, however, if you enable MBR, the brightness reduces to 200 nits, which is significantly lower, that is why I would only advise that you are using this feature when you are playing fast-paced games.

For the gamers who are looking at accessibility and ports, the LG 27GN750-B brings two USB 3.0 ports, and a headphone jack for connectivity. Not just that, you are also getting access to a single DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0 ports. It is safe to say that the LG 27GN750-B takes care of all the connectivity that you might need.

As far as the downsides are concerned, the viewing angles and inferior quality are two things that I cannot seem to wrap my head around but considering how this is a TN panel, I do understand why this is the case.

Overall, the LG 27GN750-B serves as a great gaming monitor for those who are into online gaming. I have been away from online gaming for as long as I can remember but I know a lot of people who can benefit from this monitor thanks to the blazing fast response time and refresh rate that remains to be one of the best.

Pros
  • Color gamut is excellent.
  • Ultra-low response times.
  • Beautiful, vibrant colors.
  • Very wide viewing angles.
Cons
  • Blacks on this monitor are sub-par.
  • HDR is a gimmick on this panel.

LG 24UD58-B

LG 24UD58-B

Best Entry Level LG Gaming Monitor

Specifications:

  • Screen Size: 24-inch
  • Resolution: 3840×2160
  • HDR Support: No.
  • Refresh Rate: 60Hz.

The last monitor we are looking at is something that is made for people who are not in the mood to spend an insane amount of money just so they can get access to 4K resolution. After all, 4K monitors are not cheap by any means as you are meant to spend a lot of money. However, LG being one of the largest display manufacturer, has the control to get all things sorted and if you genuinely want a good monitor without spending a lot of money, this is where you go. The LG 24UD58-B is what we are looking at.

I do understand that looking at the specs, you might be a bit off-put because the LG 24UD58-B is as basic as basic can get but after using it for some time, I realized that it is not really a bad thing because the monitor is made for media consumption and some gaming, too.

Honestly, if you are looking for single-player gaming or casual gaming, for that matter, the LG 24UD58-B is a great choice. You are getting 4K resolution, great colors thanks to the IPS panel, and good motion handling along with low input lag, too.

Sadly, the display does have some issues as the LG 24UD58-B tops out at 250 nits and this might not be enough for everyone, and the contrast ratio along with the black uniformity also suffers a bit.

For those who are looking for inputs, you are getting one DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI 2.0 and a headphone jack, as well. Moving further, the monitor tops the refresh rate at 60Hz, which again, is not enough for high-end gaming but hey, for anyone who wants 4K on a budget, this works really well and does not really disappoint.

The LG 24UD58-B does pose itself as a brilliant 4K monitor for anyone who is on a budget and just wants to get started with gaming. However, the poor ergonomics, and average contrast and black uniformity are two things that are holding it back.

Overall, I am more than happy with the LG 24UD58-B, simply because of the price LG is charging for this monitor. You are not looking at spending a lot of money, and you can easily get some really good experiences with this monitor as long as you keep your expectations in check.

Pros
  • Great colors.
  • 4K looks amazing.
  • Affordable.
  • Low input lag.
Cons
  • Contrast and uniformity issues.
  • Ergonomics are average at best.
